Clinical study at Ersta Hospital has started!

In January 2023 we started including the first patient to our clinical study at Ersta Hospital in Stockholm. We will recruit 50 patients undergoing planned surgery and the aim is to examine cognitive performance before surgery and after surgery with digital neuropsychological tests. We will also interview the patients 1 month after surgery to explore subjective symtoms of delayed neurocognitive recovery.

January 23 2023 our article “That’s how we like to do it – The Over Prescription of Narcotic Pain Medication after Discharge” was published in Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing.

The American Academy of Nursing Award

The American Academy of Nursing announced Professor Ulrica Nilsson as one of the selected 250 distinguished nurse leaders to be inducted into the 2022 Class of Fellows. Professor Nilsson was recognized for her significant contributions to health and health care at the Academy’s annual Health Policy Conference, on October 27-29, 2022 in Washington, DC.

20th September 2022 our study protocol “Is the analogue cognitive test from the ISPOCD equivalent to the digital cognitive test Mindmore? A protocol for a randomised cross-over study including qualitative interviews with self-reported healthy seniors” was published in the journal BMJ Open.

Presentation of our research

September 2022

Our PhD students Anahita Amirpour & Karin Liander held an oral presentation about brain health after surgery and presented preliminary findings from their studies at the national conference in anesthesia and intensive care (SFAI/ANIVA-veckan) in Uppsala, Sweden. Around 300 people attended the presentation.

August 2022

Our PhD student Anahita Amirpour poster presented her first study where she has compared two different cognitive test methods – analog vs digital with cognitively healthy seniors. Around 50 interested people attended the poster presentation and asked questions at Sweden’s biggest annual surgery conference – Kirurgveckan 2022 in Stockholm, Sweden.
