Block your calendars! On April 17th, our post doc Lina Bergman and PhD researcher Anahita Amirpour will hold a open lecture about postoperative neurocognitive recovery for the public at Vetenskapsfestivalen (Europe´s biggest popular scientific event) in Göteborg. The lecture is free of charge.
Annual Research meeting
In November 2023, PeriBrainCare held it’s annual scientific meeting at Karolinska Institutet. Researches, PhDs and postdocs presented ongoing research related to cognition and postoperative recovery.
In November 2023 Lina Bergman started a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in PeriBrainCare, granted by the Strategic Research Area Health Care Science (SFO-V) at Karolinska Insitutet. Lina will coordinate our latest project, the ECPON study.
Grant from Vetenskapsrådet (VR)

Presenting our research
The Mälardalen Area Doctoral School in Healthcare Science (MoF-V)
In May 2023 Lina Bergman was granted funding for a PhD student position in Mälardalen area doctoral school in healthcare sciences for the project Enhanced Continuity of Postoperative care for Older persons in their Neurocognitive recovery after cardiac surgery (the ECPON- study). The school is a partnership between the Karolinska Institute, Uppsala University, Mälardalen University, and Sophiahemmet University.
Clinical study at Ersta Hospital has started
In January 2023 we started including the first patient to our clinical study at Ersta Hospital in Stockholm. We will recruit 50 patients undergoing planned surgery and the aim is to examine cognitive performance before surgery and after surgery with digital neuropsychological tests. We will also interview the patients 1 month after surgery to explore subjective symtoms of delayed neurocognitive recovery.
The American Academy of Nursing Award
The American Academy of Nursing announced Professor Ulrica Nilsson as one of the selected 250 distinguished nurse leaders to be inducted into the 2022 Class of Fellows. Professor Nilsson was recognized for her significant contributions to health and health care at the Academy’s annual Health Policy Conference, on October 27-29, 2022 in Washington, DC.
